To be living your dreams. What is required right now?

People sometimes consider living your dreams a naïve and unreachable goal, but that thinking could probably be the biggest mistake one can make.

Sometimes, you may think that it’s beautiful to have an “okay” life, with an “okay” job and social relationships that are “okay” – because, well, “okay” works.

That may be so. But have you ever thought that “okay” may be about settling for what is available and convenient? Did it occur to you that maybe it means you have given up on living your dream life?.

Living Your Dreams

The number one belief you should know is that pursuing the life of your dreams is one that is not unattainable.

In the book The Purpose-Driven Life, Rick Warren suggests that the total experience is authentic, and a “showy and pretentious life” is empty.

The life of your dreams doesn’t mean immense wealth, popularity, or power beyond your skills and resources to achieve.

As long as you live a life gifted with purpose and passion – defined, planned, and accomplished by you on your terms – it is a complete life.

Living your dreams isn’t about reaching for an unreachable star.

It’s having SMART goals and developing an action plan to carry out those goals.

SMART means specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely.

If you can dream it, you can do it.

However, translating the life of your dreams to reality is possible with these steps.

First, produce a plan

The first and most crucial step is to determine and visualize what kind of life you dream to have. Remember that the goal must be SMART. Once you define your purpose, use all your senses to imagine what important aspects would make up the life of your dreams. What tangible and intangible things need to be present to achieve this life?

Second, drown the noise

and focus your energy on carrying out the plan. Every second our mind is filled with so much information and data; it prompts us to lose sight of our goals. It is necessary to filter out the unnecessary thoughts and focus only on the relevant ones. This way, you avoid distractions that may steer you away or, worse, force you to forget about the plan.

Third, create a system

After you’ve developed the mindset for living your dreams, it is essential to establish processes that will accomplish this. When carrying out any plan, you may be overexcited with early victories and grow less determined by executing the program as the calendar years pass. For instance, if you want to live healthily, you can create a system where you’re not surrounded by foods with unhealthy sugar or fat or grow a garden instead.

Fourth, be accountable to yourself

That means your commitment to carrying out the plan to live your dreams should not be contingent on any external factors. It shouldn’t rest only on the desire to be accepted or welcomed in a circle or to avoid any criticism from loved ones. Remember that living your dreams depends on authenticity. Once others observe that you are pulling through with your plan and are genuinely living it, they will embrace you with respect.

Lastly, take courage

Living your dreams means treading into a possibility with undetermined results. However, if one genuinely wants genuine transformation, one can conquer your fear of the unknown and experience the joy of living the life you have always wanted.

An okay life may be perfectly fine to some, but why settle? Do not limit your chance of happiness. Follow your dreams with determination, character, and humility.
